GUIDELINES ON GAS GEYSER INSTALLATION
Model of Gas Geyser:
Suitable brand of customer’s choice conforming to EN-26:1998.
(As on date, there is no specification for Gas Geysers formulated by any Government Agency in India).
However, the geyser should have the following safety features:
a. Flame Failure Device
b. Over-heat Protection Device
c. Gas & Water stability device
d. Oxygen depletion sensor
e. Incomplete combustion safety device
Gas geysers Location:
Gas Geysers should only be installed in areas like:
i. Kitchens, Living rooms, Utility Rooms, Halls and Passageways if flueing and ventilation can be achieved.
ii. bedrooms/bed-sitting rooms provided room volume is greater than 20m3 and ventilation requirements are fulfilled.
iii. Gas Geyser should be installed at such a height that it can be switched off easily.
Warning:. Do not install the Geyser in bathrooms because lack of proper ventilation in your bathroom will result in accumulation of fumes, which can lead to suffocation/asphyxiation.
Note:
I. Flueless small instantaneous water heaters with input less than 12 KW with
only one outlet must be labelled as under:
“do not use for more than 5 minutes continuously’.
“this appliance should be serviced atleast once a year”
II No water heater is permitted to be concealed.
Pipe:
From safety point of view, it is better to have the water pipe running rather than gas pipe.
Copper pipe should be used to connect to geyser, as against rubber hose.
