1) Supported Eicon Gateways
============================
An Eicon gateway is a PC equipped with an Eiconcard and Eicon Networks
gateway software. The gateway links to one or more host computers
through an external line, and routes information between LAN-connected
workstations and the hosts. Workstations can use an Eicon gateway to
communicate with remote hosts via a wide variety of connections. This
provides the ultimate in flexibility and centralized support for
PC-to-host communications.
Supported Eicon Gateways
————————
Eiconcard LAN Client provides connectivity to Eiconcard LAN Server
on the the following Eicon gateways:
– SNA LAN Gateway for Windows 2000 (V5R1)
– SNA LAN Gateway for Windows NT (V3R6)
– Eiconcard Connections for Windows 2000 (V5R1)
– Eiconcard Connections for Windows NT (V4R2b)
2) System Requirements

3) Installing Eiconcard LAN Client
============================
Before you install Eiconcard LAN Client, take note of the following:
– You must remove any previously installed version of the Win32 ECLAN
Client. Also, it is recommended that you close all applications
that are running, and stop all services and processes related to
Win32 ECLAN Client, including Eicon XPAD.
– If you are installing Eiconcard LAN Client and Eicon XPAD Client on
the same computer, make sure that you install Eiconcard LAN Client
before you install Eicon XPAD Client.
To install Eiconcard LAN Client, do as follows:
1) Insert the Eiconcard LAN Client/Server CD into your computer’s
CD-ROM drive.
2) Click Start, and then click Run.
3) In the Run dialog box, type:
d:\client\setup.exe
(where d: corresponds to your CD-ROM drive letter).
4) Click OK and follow the instructions presented on your screen.
By default, the Eiconcard LAN Client kernel is installed in the
C:\Program Files\Eicon\Eicon Shared\System folder. The Eiconcard LAN
Client Configurator is installed in the

============================
To use Eiconcard LAN Client, you must specify the gateway or gateways
that the client can connect to. This is all that you must set. All
other settings have default values that the typical user should not
need to change.
If you need to change the Eiconcard LAN Client default settings, you
should have to do so only once. As long as you click OK or Apply after
you make a change, and click OK to close the configurator, the changes
are saved and the new settings reused each time you connect using the
client.

1) Click Start, point to Programs, point to Eiconcard LAN Client, and

Conserving Memory
—————–
If you are running Eiconcard LAN Client on a computer that meets only
the minimum installation requirements, you should try to limit memory
use as follows:
– On the Parameters tab, make sure that you select only the LAN
protocols that you require.
– In the Optional Parameters dialog box, the values for Maximum
Number of Servers and Maximum Number of Sessions to All Servers
should not be set higher than required.
– Do not enable the tracing function unless required for
troubleshooting.
Installing on a Server
———————-
Do not install Eiconcard LAN Client and Eiconcard LAN Server on the
same computer.
Changing the Default or Backup Server Setting
———————————————
If you change the default or backup server that the client connects
to, you must restart your computer for the change to take effect.
Removing Eiconcard LAN Client
—————————–

that contain user-created files, such as trace and log files. After
the uninstall program is finished, you can manually remove these
folders and files.
