Can a duplicate PAN Card be issued ?
A duplicate PAN Card can be issued where :
- The PAN card has been lost/misplaced by the assessee.
- The assessee has not received the PAN card from the Department, even after the dispatch of the same by the Department under certificate of posting.
- There is an error in the PAN card issued to the assessee owing to wrong or incorrect information furnished by the assessee/applicant while filling Form 49A or due to subsequent change of name etc.
Note : In cases of lost/misplaced PAN Card and error in PAN Cards owing to wrong or incorrect information by the assessee an amount of Rs.10/- may be charged from the assessee for issue of a duplicate laminated PAN Card. They may be asked to use normal tax payment challans.
