Kismat Konnection preview

An out-of-luck architect and an out-of-love social activist find themselves connected in a strange way by kismat in director Aziz Mirza’s film ‘Kismat Konnection’.

The movie pairs together Shahid Kapur and Vidya Balan for the first time. In the supporting roles are Juhi Chawla, Om Puri and Vishal Malhotra.

Shahid Kapur as Raj Malhotra

Raj is a brilliant architect who is still grappling to find his first lucky break. There seems to be something wrong with his kismat. Perhaps a lucky charm can change all that.

Vidya Balan as Priya

She is a crusading activist who has always thought about welfare of others. She rarely thinks of what she wants herself. And love and romance is the last thing on her mind. But all that will change soon.

Juhi Chawla as Haseena Banu Jaan

She is a fortune-teller with a zany sense of talking and dressing. Gifted with clairvoyance and intuitive powers, she talks in riddles while predicting people’s future and charges 10 dollars from her clients.

Vishal Malhotra as Hiten Patel

He is Raj’s best friend and partner. An architect himself, Hiten is impulsive and eager to rush into situations without thinking things through.

Synopsis

In college Raj Malhotra (Shahid Kapur) was numero uno. He excelled in academics, sports and dramatics. But four years after winning the best-student-of-the-year trophy from his architectural college, he’s wondering why a brilliant architect like him is still struggling to find that One Big Chance to showcase his mettle.

It’s almost as though some negative kismat is following him around because whenever something good is about to happen, it seems doomed to fail.

Desperate to fight this cursed kismat, Raj meets a quirky oracle, Hasina Bano Jaan (Juhi Chawla). She tells him that soon his stars will change and make everything work in his favour. But for all this to happen, Raj has first to find his lucky charm and never let go of it. But she tells him no more, leaving Raj mystified, trying to figure out what this charm could be.

Then suddenly and almost miraculously Raj’s life is on the right track. He’s managed to impress top builder Sanjeev Gill ( Om Puri ) into giving him a prestigious project.

Raj succeeds in persuading pretty Priya (Vidya Balan) that he’s the Messiah who can save her beloved Community Center from destruction?

Does this mean that Raj has unwittingly discovered his lucky charm? Has lady luck finally decided to smile on him?

Where will his newfound kismat ultimately lead Raj – to the height of love or pinnacle of success? Only ‘Kismat Konnection’ can tell?

‘Kismat Konnection’ is produced by Ramesh Taurani and directed by Aziz Mirza . The film has music by Pritam . The movie is set to release on July 18.
